Sunset Near Low Creek by Hermann Herzog CA 1900
In this subtle Florida landscape, a man walks with his dog through a stand of cabbage palms just after the sun set.
Artist Hermann Ottomar Herzog, born November 16, 1832 in Bremen, Germany, immigrated to the USA in 1871. Although he originally trained as an artist and painted and sold work throughout his life, he truly made his living as a successful investor. Herzog visited Florida every winter from the 1890s until the early teens. His reverence for nature shows through in his paintings. He died on February 6, 1932 W. Philadelphia, PA at the age of 99.
